Apple has introduced its latest MacBook Pro, bringing a major display upgrade, new ways to interact with your work and even more power for demanding tasks. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch models, the new MacBook Pro features the all-new PROLED XDR display, powered by tandem OLED technology.
The display delivers up to 2,000 nits of peak HDR and SDR brightness, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. With support for both P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces, it brings impressive detail, rich colours and smooth visuals to everything from creative projects to everyday work.
For the first time on Mac, Touch capabilities let you interact directly with on-screen content. Whether you're adjusting a 3D model, working on a creative project or exploring new ways to make music, it adds another dimension to how you use your MacBook Pro. The Dynamic Island also makes its debut on Mac, bringing convenient access to Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI.
Under the hood, Apple's M5 Pro and M5 Max chips deliver the performance needed for demanding professional workflows, with support for up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage. Despite the added capability, the redesigned MacBook Pro is thinner and lighter, with up to 24 hours of battery life to help you stay productive on the move.
There's plenty more to the experience, too. An enhanced six-speaker sound system delivers 50% deeper bass, while Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, a 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-quality microphones and macOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI round out the package.
The new MacBook Pro is available to pre-order from 28 October, with availability beginning Friday, 6 November. PROLED XDR: A new standard for MacBook Pro displays
The new MacBook Pro introduces PROLED XDR, a tandem OLED display designed to deliver a new level of visual quality for professional and everyday use. Combining innovations in display technology with advanced pixel control and precise factory calibration, it produces true-to-life colours, consistent brightness and remarkable detail across the screen.
Featuring two self-illuminating pixel layers, PROLED XDR delivers breathtaking contrast, deep blacks, and brilliant highlights with exceptional brightness uniformity and clarity, without blooming or halos.
With up to 2,000 nits of peak HDR and SDR brightness and an impressive 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, bright highlights stand out while deep shadows retain their detail. ProMotion technology also provides adaptive refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz, balancing power efficiency with smooth, responsive visuals when working with fast-moving content.
With up to 2000 nits peak HDR and SDR brightness and an extraordinary 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, PROLED XDR delivers breathtaking highlights, deep blacks, and exceptional shadow detail for a stunningly lifelike viewing experience.
For creative professionals, support for both P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces makes the display particularly well suited to photography, graphic design, video editing and colour grading. With more than 80% Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR workflows, PROLED XDR offers the colour range and accuracy needed for demanding projects. An advanced anti-reflective coating helps maintain clarity in bright environments, while an optional nano-texture finish further reduces glare and reflections. Together, these features make the new MacBook Pro a powerful portable display for work where colour, clarity and precision matter.
The state-of-the-art display engine precisely controls the color and brightness of every pixel for exceptional uniformity, stunning shadow detail, and brilliant image quality.
Touch on Mac: A new way to work and create
For the first time, MacBook Pro introduces Touch, giving users a more direct and intuitive way to interact with their content. Designed specifically for Mac, the built-in touch sensor sits within the display panel to reduce latency and make interactions feel responsive and natural. From scrolling through webpages and zooming into photos to moving slides between presentations and arranging windows, familiar tasks become simple gestures, working alongside the keyboard shortcuts and trackpad controls Mac users already know.
Touch also opens up new possibilities for creative and professional workflows. Designers can draw directly across the display, musicians can play software instruments onscreen, and developers can test how their iOS and iPadOS apps respond to touch without leaving their Mac. A redesigned hinge provides added stability during use, while automatic video stabilisation helps keep the camera feed smooth during video calls.
Apple's own apps are optimised for Touch, while macOS automatically translates touches into clicks to support many existing apps. Developers can also use updated system gesture APIs to build experiences specifically for touch interaction. A growing range of third-party tools will take advantage of the feature, including productivity apps such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notion and Canva; creative software such as Adobe Lightroom and DaVinci Resolve; 3D tools including Blender, Cinema 4D and Shapr3D; and music apps such as djay Pro. By bringing touch interaction to the MacBook Pro display, Apple is offering professionals another way to work with the tools they rely on every day.
With its breakthrough PROLED XDR display and intuitive Touch experience, the new MacBook Pro transforms how pros create and edit on the go — from filmmakers and colorists to photographers, 3D artists, musicians, and more — while empowering researchers, developers, and engineers to tackle their most complex projects from anywhere.
Dynamic Island: Key updates, always within reach
For the first time, Dynamic Island comes to Mac, bringing Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI together in one convenient, interactive space. Much like on iPhone, it gives you quick access to important information and everyday tasks without interrupting what you're doing. You can search your Mac, ask Siri AI a question, answer a phone call or control your music, all from within easy reach.
Live Activities also bring timely updates directly to Dynamic Island, helping you stay up to date at a glance. With simple touch interactions, you can accept an AirDrop request, pause a song or respond to notifications as they appear. It offers a more immediate way to access useful information and manage everyday tasks while keeping your workflow moving.
The Dynamic Island is the new home for Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI, bringing a quick way to see and interact with important information. Users can search their Mac, ask a question, or control their music, all in one easy-to-reach place.
A slimmer, lighter design built for life on the go
The new MacBook Pro is thinner and lighter than before, making it easier to take powerful performance wherever work takes you. The 14-inch model now weighs just 3 pounds, half a pound less than its predecessor, while the 16-inch model weighs 4 pounds — a reduction of 0.7 pounds. Both benefit from a slimmer design made possible by the more efficient tandem OLED display technology, with the 14-inch model nearly half a millimetre thinner and the 16-inch model almost a millimetre thinner.
Despite the reduced dimensions, the redesigned MacBook Pro retains the sustained performance of Apple's M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, thanks to a completely reworked thermal architecture. This system also directs warm air away from the display, helping maintain performance during demanding tasks. Slimmer display borders make better use of the available space, with the 14-inch model featuring a 14.2-inch screen and the 16-inch model offering a 16.3-inch display. The result is a more portable design that brings together a larger viewing experience, powerful performance and greater convenience on the move.

Designed with the environment in mind
The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR reflects Apple's ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental impact as it works towards carbon neutrality across its entire footprint by 2030. It contains 55% recycled material overall, including 100% recycled aluminium in the enclosure, recycled cobalt in the battery and, for the first time in an Apple product, 100% recycled tantalum in multiple capacitors.
Sustainability also extends to how the MacBook Pro is manufactured, with 45% renewable electricity used across its supply chain, including wind and solar power. Designed for durability and repairability, it also meets Apple's standards for energy efficiency and safer chemical materials. Even the packaging has been considered, with paper packaging made entirely from fibre and designed to be recycled. Together, these measures form part of Apple's wider effort to reduce the environmental impact of its products throughout their lifecycle.
