The new iMac gets a serious performance upgrade with Apple’s M6 chip, bringing more power and enhanced AI capabilities to its iconic all-in-one design.
With faster CPU and GPU performance, plus Neural Accelerators built into every core, M6 makes everyday multitasking feel effortless while giving creative apps more power for tasks like photo and video editing. For anyone upgrading from an Intel-based iMac, the difference is even more dramatic, with performance up to 18x faster than the most popular Intel-based model.
AI gets a major boost too, with the Dual 16-core Neural Engine delivering up to 5x faster on-device AI performance than M4. From Apple Intelligence and Siri AI to running local AI models and creative workflows, iMac is built to handle more without compromising user privacy.
There’s plenty more to the new iMac, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, faster storage and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports. Add the 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, upgraded camera, speakers and microphones, and a choice of seven colours, and you have an all-in-one Mac that’s more capable than ever.
Pre-orders begin Wednesday, 28 October, with availability from Friday, 6 November.
“iMac is the world’s best all-in-one, and today it raises the bar yet again. With the blazing performance and AI capabilities of M6 supercharging every workflow and the next generation of Apple Intelligence with Siri AI — combined with its stunning 24-inch Retina display, its gorgeous design in seven vibrant colours, and macOS 27 — the new iMac has everything users need to run their businesses, manage their lives, and bring their ideas to life.”
Shelly Goldberg, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering.
From families and creative professionals to small business owners, users can take advantage of a major boost in performance and powerful AI capabilities for everyday workflows with built-in privacy. iMac also delivers a pop of color that brightens any space.
More Power for Work, Creativity and AI
The new M6 chip gives iMac a serious boost, with more CPU and GPU cores, faster memory bandwidth and significantly greater AI capability. Whether you’re juggling everyday tasks, working on creative projects or exploring new AI tools, everything is designed to feel faster and more responsive.
The up-to-12-core CPU adds two cores compared with M4, delivering the world’s fastest single-threaded CPU performance. The up-to-12-core GPU also gains two additional cores, with Neural Accelerators built into each one. This delivers up to 2x faster graphics performance than M4 for more demanding tasks such as photo editing, alongside improved gaming performance.
AI performance gets a major upgrade too. The new Dual 16-core Neural Engine delivers up to 2x faster AI compute than the previous generation, while memory bandwidth increases to up to 170GB/s. Together, these improvements make iMac well equipped for demanding on-device AI tasks, including running large language models locally.
All that extra power is packed into the same beautifully compact all-in-one design, giving everyone from students and families to creators and small businesses a faster, more capable Mac for everyday life.
With the new iMac with M6, students can bring their ideas to life with a spacious canvas to explore, create, and innovate.
A Smarter Way to Work
The new iMac is built to take advantage of the latest generation of Apple Intelligence, with AI features integrated throughout macOS 27. From asking Siri AI questions to finding information across your messages, emails and photos, you can get more done without constantly switching between apps.
Siri AI is also built into Spotlight, making it easier to search for answers and ask follow-up questions. With the 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, Visual Intelligence lets you interact with what’s on your screen too, whether that’s a chart in a spreadsheet, an image or something you’re working on in a browser.
Apple Intelligence goes beyond Siri, with smarter tools appearing across apps such as Safari, Photos and Shortcuts. And because much of the processing happens on-device, iMac gives you access to powerful AI features while keeping privacy at the heart of the experience.
For those looking to go further, Apple silicon also supports a growing range of AI-optimised apps, including LM Studio and Topaz Studio, opening up even more possibilities for creativity and productivity.
With the powerful AI capabilities of M6, the new iMac lets users do even more with AI-powered apps like Pixelmator Pro and Claude, from enhancing photos and removing unwanted objects to brainstorming ideas, writing, and tackling everyday tasks with speed and ease.
Faster Connections, More Room to Work
The new iMac makes it easier to move files, connect accessories and keep your workflow moving, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 built in. For those who prefer a wired connection, available 2.5Gb Ethernet delivers up to 2.5x faster wired connectivity than the previous generation, useful when transferring large files or working with demanding projects.
Storage gets a speed boost too, with SSD read and write performance up to 2x faster. That means quicker app launches and less waiting when opening large photo libraries, video projects and other files.
Up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports give you plenty of flexibility for connecting external storage, docks and other accessories. You can also connect up to two 6K external displays, creating a huge workspace with more than 50 million pixels to work across.
With Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, the new iMac moves large files fast and connects a wide range of accessories and up to two 6K external displays.
Everything You Need, All in One
For anyone moving from an Intel-based iMac, the jump to M6 is substantial, with performance up to 18x faster. But the new iMac is about more than raw speed — it brings together a brilliant display, impressive camera and audio, useful accessories and seamless integration with iPhone.
A display made for just about anything
The 24-inch 4.5K Retina display gives you a spacious canvas for everything from everyday work to films, games and creative projects. With 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide colour and support for more than a billion colours, everything from photos to video looks vibrant and detailed.
Great picture, sound and calls
The 12MP Center Stage camera keeps you in frame during video calls, while Desk View gives you a handy overhead view of your workspace. A six-speaker system with force-cancelling woofers, tweeters and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos brings room-filling sound, backed up by a studio-quality three-microphone array.
A splash of colour
With seven vibrant finishes to choose from — blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver — iMac is as much a part of your space as it is a computer. Whether it’s at home, in the office or in a shop, there’s a colour to suit your setup.
Accessories that fit right in
The keyboard and mouse or trackpad are colour-matched to your iMac, creating a cohesive setup straight out of the box. Magic Keyboard with Touch ID also makes it easy to unlock your Mac, switch users, authorise Apple Pay and download apps securely.
Works brilliantly with iPhone
If you already use an iPhone, iMac fits naturally into your setup. Continuity lets you share files and photos, hand off tasks between devices and even control your iPhone from your Mac. And if you’re new to Mac, your iPhone can make the move easier by helping transfer your settings, files, photos, passwords and more.
The expansive 24-inch Retina display delivers crisp, clear details with 4.5K resolution and 500 nits of brightness.
Designed with the environment in mind
The new iMac has been designed with its environmental impact in mind, using recycled materials throughout. The stand is made with 100% recycled aluminium, while the magnets use 100% recycled rare earth elements. Apple has also used 100% recycled gold plating and tin solder across its own printed circuit boards.
Manufacturing is supported by 40% renewable electricity, including wind and solar power, across the supply chain. The new iMac also meets Apple’s standards for energy efficiency and safe chemistry.
As with other Apple products, its packaging is 100% fibre-based and designed to be recycled — helping reduce its impact from production through to the box it arrives in.
